Abanka received an international award for Bank of the Year

At the Banker's 10th Bank of the Year awards celebration, which was taking place in London previous week, SRC’s major business partner Abanka Vipa d.d. received the prestigious Bank of the Year award. This award was bestowed upon them for their admirable business results in the time of demanding financial markets and for their technological development in the field of e-business, where an important role played our own SRC team of experts.

Abanka Vipa d.d. was chosen for the award after it has been selected by the magazine The Banker as the top Slovene bank of the year 2009. Significant contribution to that was that Abanka’s shares were offered at the Ljubljana Stock Exchange in the October 2008, which marked the conclusion of the project to increase bank’s capital through issuing of new shares, which have been paid-in in February 2008.The advancement in technology and development of new Abanka’s products in the field of e-business contributed to them receiving the award as well.

Through managing documents with digital signature and development of E-račun (e-Account) services, which completely took over all paper based operations and offers clients invoice delivery in payments made in electronic format through the electronic banking system, Abanka became the top of modern banking services assurance companies. The additional e-business security when operating using the Abanet, internet banking portal, includes virtual keyboard and a day-limit, as well as Abasms services, which enable direct access to financial data and SMS notification regarding all private account transactions, as well as card payments.

The Banker magazine was handing out award this year in collaboration with UK Trade & Investments and selected the winner from a group of business banks from 144 countries of the world, from six regions. Beside the Global Bank of the Year award, they handed out the award for the Top Bank in the field of monetary and securities management, as well as a special award for the Best Policies for Promoting Financial Inclusion.

The awards were given based on a strict assessment of financial data, business innovations and strategies. The gala awards celebration was taking place on the evening of December 3rd at the Hotel Intercontinental in London.
